INTRODUCTION - THIS MONTH'S ACHIEVEMENTS

Happy New Year everyone! Team FFB hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! The festivities may feel like many moons ago but 2023 is already off to a fantastic start. In January we helped 87 businesses with their Energy Procurement, a further 70 businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, and saved around 60% off businesses on their energy contracts! Our goal for February is to help even more businesses and strengthen our support service offering out to you…

Have you had your DOER?

In a rising energy market, businesses are screaming out for new solutions to dramatically reduce their energy bills in a quick and simple way. Thankfully that’s where we come in!

Our FREE Desktop Energy Optimisation Report (DEOR) was developed in line with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and is a quick and easy tool designed to assess your business’ opportunity for energy efficiency and energy compliance. By getting an understanding of the opportunities available to you, we can identify where BIG savings can be made to benefit you today as well as for the future.

If you haven’t already had your bespoke DOER, one of our advisors will be in touch so that we can identify and unlock new savings for you and your business.. On average we can save businesses up to 30% more than procurement and contract switches alone.

The New Government Support Scheme

As we know, The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) offers a discount on wholesale gas and electricity prices for all non-domestic consumers, including public sector organisations, charitable organisations, and businesses. It was launched on October 1, 2022 and was intended to last until March 31, 2023.

The EBRS was established as a temporary solution to reduce energy costs and provide stability for non-domestic consumers during the winter crisis. Its purpose was to keep people employed, avoid unnecessary bankruptcies, and provide businesses with the time and resources to find ways to reduce energy costs.

The government has made it clear that the support provided by the EBRS is temporary and designed to help businesses transition. The latest data indicates that wholesale gas prices have dropped to pre-invasion levels of Ukraine and have been nearly cut in half since the launch of the EBRS.

The new scheme will therefore strike a balance between the need to support businesses over the next year while limiting taxpayer exposure to the unstable energy market, with a cap of £5.5 billion based on estimated usage and will run from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.

How does it work?

Exactly like the current scheme, reductions will be automatically applied to the bills of all eligible non-domestic consumers by their suppliers. Eligible ETII customers will need to apply for a higher level of support. The process for this will be disclosed at a later time. If you believe your supplier is not applying the discount correctly, reach out to them first.

The government will compensate suppliers for the decrease in wholesale gas and electricity prices that they are passing on to non-domestic consumers. The discount is given in pence per kilowatt hour (p/kWh) and will be the same for comparable contracts among suppliers. However, the actual bill amount may still differ depending on the contract and tariff. To read about the full scheme, click here.

A Growing Ambassador Family

We’re pleased to announce that we have signed two new football clubs to our Community Ambassador Programme this month. We’re welcoming Brandon United Football Club  and Upper Eden RUFC to the programme and are excited for our journey to begin.

Meet the Team - GARY!

Hey guys! I have just started a new role within FFB so I thought I’d let you guys get to know me more! Check out my Q&A below – I hope you enjoy it!

  • My new role is Head of the Business Ambassador Programme. I work very closely with Businesses and Charities of all size to help generate an additional income stream for these by utilising their contacts, that they come into contact with on a daily basis. The energy market is very volatile at the present time with very little sign of improvement over the medium to long term. We can assist with reducing energy costs, reduce energy consumption and assist with Net Zero targets amongst a number of other complimentary services that we provide.
  • The interaction with my work colleagues, our client base, and our client’s contacts.
  • Anything with chicken and or prawns. Chinese, Indian & pasta. I’ll try anything once.
  • I love a city break to Barcelona. A great place for city life and also right on the coast.
  • I love spending time with my family and grandchildren. I’m supporting the charity Mind this year by completing in the Great North Run therefore running and keeping fit has been added to my list of enjoyments whether I like it or not.
  • I’m really enjoying working here at FFB, as I firmly believe they will go from strength to strength in the energy market place. The process, product(s) and people fit in well with what I’m looking for over the medium to long term.
  • It must be said and without mentioning names that some of my colleagues singing leaves a lot be desired.

Thanks, Gary!
